This is the day the Lord has Made

What an amazing day! Today Gavin was baptized in our church, St Mark's Catholic Church in Norman. Ive been looking forward to this for a long time. I feel like I spent so much time in church praying for our little miracle, and now to bring him to church and commit him as a Christian, it's just a great feeling!

But don't let me sugar coat this day too much. I mean, as much as I was excited for him to be baptized, Ive been STRESSING about how this day would go for weeks. I was worried b/c every morning around 9 am, Gavin gets pretty cranky. Cranky is probably an understatement, b/c he really needs his morning nap to make it through the day. So I planned it out with Eric that we would leave our house about an hour before we needed to be at the church, and spend that entire time driving around so that Gavin would get a nap in. (he loves the car) Well, we did just that, got to the church around 8:30 am, and church started at 9:00. By about 9:20, Gavin was over being quiet and being held in church. I tried several things to get him to be quiet since we were up in front, and finally gave in to let him have a bottle. As soon as I put it in his mouth, the Priest and Deacon walked over to talk to us in front of everyone. So I immediately pulled the bottle from his mouth, and he proceeded to SCREAM the entire time they talked to us! It was so embarrassing and couldn't have been worse timing, but kids are just so ornery like that I guess.

Gavin's godparents are Ray and Jess, as well as my Dad. I couldn't be happier that they were all up front with us and took part in this special day. Gavin is the luckiest baby ever!

When we got to the back of the church, and the actual baptism took place, he was fine, and we made it through the remainder of church! After church we went to Charleston's for lunch with everyone, and of course, Gavin slept like an angel the whole time. :) All in all, great day and so thankful for everyone that came to celebrate with us.
