Ash Wednesday

I don't usually post bible quotes, but Ash Wednesday's gospel is one that will forever stick in my head. I love the whole message behind it, and thought I would post it here.

Matthew 6:1-2
" Beware of practicing your piety before men in order to be seen by them; for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. Thus, when you give alms, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward."

It's the beginning of lent, and I think the biggest message of lent, (at least in my mind) is to take time to DO something or make a change, or even give up something. But whatever you do, do it for you and for God...and no one else! I just really like that message.

Happy Ash Wednesday

  1. 100% agree... I hate when people post what they're "giving up" on facebook or advertise it to the world. It takes away a little bit of the purpose.
