Tuesday Nov 9th: I went to bed having contractions, but that was very normal for me. Throughout the night, a couple of times got pretty noticeable. by 4:30 am, i was having to work to get through each contraction. I woke up Eric and we laid there deciding if they were bad enough. Finally I decided that it would be worth it to go into the hospital, but I wanted to take our time getting there. I really didn't want to be sent home, and wanted to be sure the contractions were strong enough. By the time we were on the way to the hospital, they were so bad that i was telling Eric to hurry!
After monitoring me for an hour, they came in and said "You're having a baby today!" So we were very excited!
Drugs by 8 am, and Im good to go!
Notice that Eric was in his work clothes! LOL! He said that if it wasn't the real deal, then I needed to drop him off at work after we left the hospital! He had been telling me all week that any day AFTER Wednesday would be great, but before then would be a mess! Well, little Gavin is already testing his Daddy, b/c he came on Wednesday!
I think he forgot about work after about 5 seconds though, b/c we had so much going on. My labor progressed very quickly, and by noon I was almost dilated to a 10.

Sister pic! (yes, even Lyndsie)
We kicked everyone out about 12:45, b/c I was supposed to start pushing. But then they all just stood at the door waiting to hear something. :)
At a 10
I pushed for over an hour, and then at 2:15, the doctor came in because we were ready to have a baby. He tried to help me out the next few times that I pushed, but things just weren't going well. Dr. Kallenberger made the call that Gavin was too big for me to deliver, and that we needed to do a c-section. Immediatly I started crying and got really upset. I had never considered the possibility of having to have a c-section, and I knew nothing about it. But I knew that it was the best thing for me and Gavin. We were prepped, and then headed into the OR. Mom and Eric got to come with me, and after almost another hour, we had our precious little Gavin Ray Fischer!

The amazing door hanger that Amy made me! It got more compliments than Gavin!
After ANOTHER hour, they finally wheeled Gavin in to see me for the first time. I am so in love with this beautiful baby, and so thankful that everything worked out and we were both kept safe.
Sweet chubby face

Later that evening, Hailey came to see Gavin. She's been talking about Gavin forever, and she was so excited to finally meet him!
Every time he would come back from the nursery, they would have him wrapped up so tight, and he HATED IT! He would give it about 5 minutes then start crying until we freed his hands!

Love my lil family
People kept asking who Gavin looked like, so I found a baby pic of Eric, and he's pretty much the spitting image of Eric!
Friday afternoon, we got to head home! If you can't tell, Gavin was pretty excited about leaving!
Another family pic, with my swollen face!
FUNNY BUT NOT FUNNY STORY: All morning on Friday, the nurses knew we wanted to leave. They would come in and then say "Oh you need to get cleared by the nursery, or the dr, or someone else." Well, we finally thought we had all the clearance to leave, and they called an escort for us to take me down. Eric and his dad went down before us to get the car pulled up. While they were wheeling me out, we passed the last sensor that opens up the doors to the elevator, and the whole hospital suddenly locked down! CODE PINK, which obviously means that someone is trying to steal a baby! Turns out, they hadn't done Gavin's final check-up, and taken off his belly button sensor. So we had to go back to the room, get him back to the nursery, and wait another 20 minutes until they brought him back. In the mean time, they were apologizing to me over and over, b/c they obviously knew I wasn't stealing my baby. Even Eric got stopped from leaving the hospital by security guards! Im glad to know the security system works, and that our baby was safe, but at the time, I was just ready to go home!
Ignore the straps around his legs, we were already home and wanted to see his outfit!
Thanks to everyone who has come to visit these past few days, and for all the love for Baby G!

You did so great Kimmy! We love that little punkin!
