How many days can Oklahoma have 100+ degree temps? Well, let me tell you we're not done yet! Since mid June, the temps have been almost unbearable. The ONLY thing you can do outside after 9 am is be in some kind of water! So for 4th of July weekend, we headed down to the lake to take in some boat time, swimming, and fireworks! I love long weekends at the lake, because it makes the packing, the driving, the unpacking, and more driving so much more worth it! I swear we pack up our entire house and specifically Gavin's entire room just to get down to the lake. Then somehow I still feel like I forgot something.
We got down to the lake Friday late afternoon, and made a big dinner, then got ready for our first big day on the water. Saturday morning we got up and headed out to Butterfly Cove, which is a great area that's not crowded, and has smaller beaches with deep water to float in. We tied up with our favorite lake buddies, the Campbells, and spent the day swimming and playing horseshoes, putting babies in the water, taking them out, feeding/changing/trying to get them to nap, and then giving up and letting them swim again! The only sure way to get them to nap is to get the boat going at a good speed. Once we hit the water, they all pass out within about 30 seconds! Its the funniest thing we've ever seen bc its the ONLY time that any parents get to relax on the lake! Saturday night we headed over to Hal's to watch fireworks. Gavin slept through the entire thing bc he was so tired! Sunday we went out again to the same cove and had another full day on the water. By Sunday night we were all so worn out, we passed out not long after the babies! We had such a great weekend and somehow survived the heat! Happy 4th of July everyone!
