The Food Chronicles

Gavin's tummy doesn't like change. It takes so long for us to get his tummy used to the next new thing. This started waaaaay back when he first entered the world and started with breastmilk. Then when we switched from breastmilk to formula, we opened a whole new "can of worms." Tummy aches and an upset baby. So when we switched to cereal I was really dreading how his body would handle it. Surprisingly, cereal is the only thing he transitioned to easily. But this week, we started some Stage 1 foods. I decided to try and make all his food so that less preservatives might = less tummy aches. I also heard that avocado is one of the best things to start out with. So I mashed up some avocado, added a little formula for better consistency, and did the airplane all the way to his little mouth...

"Im ready for my cereal..I sure do love me some cereal!" "WHY WHY would you torture me with this nasty green stuff!"

Gavin absolutely hated avocadoes! He turned his head away and made the worst faces and choking sounds when we tried to feed him. So I set to work on making some other foods for him to try!

How about some carrots and sweet potatoes?

But the next day, I sent another avocado with Debbie to try again. Maybe he'll like it today right??? WRONG! She called me telling me that he was crying and trying to escape his bumbo when she fed him the avocado. And Debbie was very mad at me for making her be so mean to him! LOL! So the next day we switched to sweet potatoes...

"Mmmmmm...I like these! Bring on the orange stuff!" "Yay for sweet potatoes!"

Next up...the green food family. Wish us luck!
