Eric's birthday was April 5th, and this year, he just wanted to have a low-key night at home with dinner and family. And all he's been talking about is having "Penne Alla Vodka with Sausage" so I got online, found the vodka sauce he likes, asked his mom what sausages she makes, and then went to work! Debbie helped me prepare everything, b/c it was definitely a team effort! Gavin decided that he was so excited for his Daddys' birthday that he didn't need a nap ALL DAY! Needless to say he was a little less than cooperative! And if you refernence the above post, his tummy doesn't really cooperate with new foods, so he really needed to go but couldn't all day. Back to birthday fun! When Eric got up in the morning to go to the gym, I wrapped his presents and put his cards on the counter with some gummy bears (his fave)! He opened up all his new shirts from Gavin and I, and surprisingly, LOVED THEM! He always returns the stuff I buy for him, because I can't pick out men's clothes to save my life. But this year he loved all 4 of the really nice shirts I picked out! When I got off work, Debbie and I went to work on the meal. Below are some pics from the meal in progress, as well as Eric's birthday cake! I know it doesn't look good now, but here are the sausages boiling in the vodka sauce. (and yes, that's grease on top! yuck!)
Cake in the oven!
Now all we need is a sleeping baby....too bad it was only for 10 minutes!
Ready for some more icing!
Hailey stopped by and just HAD to help icing Uncle Eric's cake!
Finished product! Looks delicious!
Just waiting for Daddy to get home
