Improptu Easter Bunny

So I've never been one to care much about getting pics done at the mall with Santa or the Easter Bunny or whatever. Not that Im against it, just that I HATE waiting in those lines!! And the pagers they supposedly give you so you can shop and then come back...but then you come back and there are several people who are just standing there giving you the evil eye. Or maybe you decide to wait so you have to sit there and watch parent after parent try and force a smile out of their screaming child!! I mean really? Just get the screaming picture and move on, those are the best ones anyway!

But when Eric and I were at the mall a few weeks ago, we just happened to dress our lil man in the cutest golf outfit in honor of the masters. (Who says you can't have fun dressing a little boy??) Eric noticed the Easter Bunny downstairs and there were only about 8 people in line. He decided that we should try it out, and that he would go stand in line for a few minutes while I shopped then came to meet him. Gavin had been such an angel all morning so we knew we might be pushing our luck, but when we set him with the Easter Bunny, he gave us the biggest smiles and was so happy! The funniest part is that I dont think he ever knew who or what was holding him! He never once turned around to look at the bunny, he just smiled at his Mommy and Daddy!

It turned out to be a great idea on Eric's part!!

Happy Boy!
Happy Easter everyone! :)

NBS = No Bib Sunday

And why shouldn't we have a day where it's okay to be messy! After we took pics last night, I decided that there's not a reason in the world to bother Gavin with a bib! Let him make all the mess he wants!
BEFORE

AFTER

Too bad he's such a piglet he doesn't let much escape his mouth! Tune in next Sunday...

5 Months

Happy 5 months!! Baby Gavin is not going to be a baby much longer! He is flying through these months and surprising Eric and I every day! His little smiles and giggles melt my heart, and the way he watches us wherever we go and talks to us all the time is so fun, and you can literally see him learning new things. Here are some milestones we've hit. (or at least they are milestones to us!) - Gavin can sit up on his own for several seconds, maybe even minutes if he doesn't get too distracted. - He finally found his feet! When we hung out with Kyler and Liam last time, they grabbed onto their feet so often and Gavin has never cared to do that. Well, one day he just started grabbing and playing with them! - He watches Lexi all the time and I feel like they are destined to be best friends. She lets him pet her, and I even put him on top of her all the time so that when he starts crawling all over her she will be used to it. I think they would share toys if I would let it happen. - Gavin's feet are HUGE! He's already almost a size 3 shoe, which to me, is really big! He's also in 6-12 and 6-9 month clothing for the most part bc he's SO TALL! - He still shows no preference when someone new holds him. He's very easy-going in that aspect! - We've got a good sleeper, usually at least 10 hours straight a night, then a bottle and another 2 hours. - He is trying lots of foods now, and liking several of them. Some, not so much! (see "Food Chronicles") Eric and I think he is JUST PERFECT! And why wouldn't we?? :) Here's some pics I took yesterday for his 5 months...I am no photographer but I thought they were pretty cute!
"I dont need anyone to hold me up!"

"Except maybe my best friend Lexi!"

Last night was his first night to have a bath in the real bathtub! He really liked it, although until he can stay sitting up, he'll still be in his little bath in the big bath! But I dont think he minds!

Eric's favorite part of the night...

Lizzy's Last Fling

This weekend was a GREAT weekend, I got to spend lots of time with my little man and Eric, and even celebrated my good friend Liz's bachelorette party Saturday! We started at Royal Spa and got some mani/pedis while having mimosas. Then we headed to Renaissance hotel where we all got ready for Liz's personal shower and then out to party!
Nash, Ryan, and Lauren getting manis

Me and the Bride-to-be! Making the "Renatini" which obviously included A LOT more champagne! The recipe: The pretty table set up for the party. And yes...those are 5 hr energys for the group! LOL Pretty bride and her really fun shoes! All the girls right before we went out to Purple Bar Shoe pic! We sure do love our shoes! Somehow I no longer have pics from this night once we left the hotel. We all went to Purple Bar and had a few drinks, and then the rest of the girls went out to Wormy Dog, while I went home to my boys! It was a really fun night, and we're about a month away from the big day! Love you Lizzy!

The Food Chronicles

Gavin's tummy doesn't like change. It takes so long for us to get his tummy used to the next new thing. This started waaaaay back when he first entered the world and started with breastmilk. Then when we switched from breastmilk to formula, we opened a whole new "can of worms." Tummy aches and an upset baby. So when we switched to cereal I was really dreading how his body would handle it. Surprisingly, cereal is the only thing he transitioned to easily. But this week, we started some Stage 1 foods. I decided to try and make all his food so that less preservatives might = less tummy aches. I also heard that avocado is one of the best things to start out with. So I mashed up some avocado, added a little formula for better consistency, and did the airplane all the way to his little mouth...

"Im ready for my cereal..I sure do love me some cereal!" "WHY WHY would you torture me with this nasty green stuff!"

Gavin absolutely hated avocadoes! He turned his head away and made the worst faces and choking sounds when we tried to feed him. So I set to work on making some other foods for him to try!

How about some carrots and sweet potatoes?

But the next day, I sent another avocado with Debbie to try again. Maybe he'll like it today right??? WRONG! She called me telling me that he was crying and trying to escape his bumbo when she fed him the avocado. And Debbie was very mad at me for making her be so mean to him! LOL! So the next day we switched to sweet potatoes...

"Mmmmmm...I like these! Bring on the orange stuff!" "Yay for sweet potatoes!"

Next up...the green food family. Wish us luck!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Eric's birthday was April 5th, and this year, he just wanted to have a low-key night at home with dinner and family. And all he's been talking about is having "Penne Alla Vodka with Sausage" so I got online, found the vodka sauce he likes, asked his mom what sausages she makes, and then went to work! Debbie helped me prepare everything, b/c it was definitely a team effort! Gavin decided that he was so excited for his Daddys' birthday that he didn't need a nap ALL DAY! Needless to say he was a little less than cooperative! And if you refernence the above post, his tummy doesn't really cooperate with new foods, so he really needed to go but couldn't all day. Back to birthday fun! When Eric got up in the morning to go to the gym, I wrapped his presents and put his cards on the counter with some gummy bears (his fave)! He opened up all his new shirts from Gavin and I, and surprisingly, LOVED THEM! He always returns the stuff I buy for him, because I can't pick out men's clothes to save my life. But this year he loved all 4 of the really nice shirts I picked out! When I got off work, Debbie and I went to work on the meal. Below are some pics from the meal in progress, as well as Eric's birthday cake!
I know it doesn't look good now, but here are the sausages boiling in the vodka sauce. (and yes, that's grease on top! yuck!)

Cake in the oven! Now all we need is a sleeping baby....too bad it was only for 10 minutes! Ready for some more icing! Hailey stopped by and just HAD to help icing Uncle Eric's cake! Finished product! Looks delicious! Just waiting for Daddy to get home Penne Alla Vodka with Sausage Improptu bath and the end of the night after a BLOWOUT! But you can tell how happy Gavin was to get a good bath with Mommy and Daddy!

I think Eric had a pretty great birthday!! We love you!!

Fun Shoes = Fun Weekend!

This past weekend was Lyndsie's bachelorette party. She wanted to go to the Hard Rock in Tulsa and gamble, party and just have a fun girls outing! All of us bridesmaids planned an awesome party, in a suite with lots of food and drinks for everyone! We told all the girls to wear fun shoes and dresses, and everyone obliged! All of us bridesmaids that live in OKC rode together down to Tulsa on Saturday afternoon. When we got to the Hard Rock, Lisa and Callie had decorated the room and were waiting for us. We all hung out for a few hours, then started to get ready and ate dinner. After dinner, we had Lyndsie's personal shower and played some fun games. We recorded her fiance', Scott, answering some questions and if she got the same answer, she got it right. If she got a different answer, she had to flip a coin and either take a shot or chew bubble gum! As soon as we were all ready, we went downstairs to gamble, and then headed to "Friction," which is the club in the Hard Rock. As soon as we got to our table, the manager sent us champagne, and then we proceeded to receive shots for our group of 11 girls, from random people all night! It was nice not having to buy any drinks!! We had a great time and then when they kicked us out of the club, we headed up to the room and called it a night. In the morning, Callie brought us all bagels and OJ before we headed home.
Ready for a road trip!

You would think we were staying for a week! Self-timer pic before going out FUN SHOESCindy, Lyndsie and Kristin Me, Lynds, Steph and Tara Love you BEST FRIEND! Group pic at Friction Less than 2 weeks til the big day!
